Jim Fitzsimons – Riverwest Management

  • Jim Fitzsimons is current President of the Institute of Management Consultants and Advisors, the representative body for the consultancy sector in Ireland. Jim has worked in written and broadcast journalism, and held research, technical, marketing, sales and general management roles in food and agribusiness firms in Ireland, UK and all over the World. He runs an international consultancy, Riverwest Management based in Wicklow with an office in Winnipeg, Canada. For the past 17 years, he has worked primarily in enabling SME’s to do funded research in universities and colleges across the Island and mentors food and agribusiness companies with Local Enterprise Offices as well as the Fusion, Elevate and Acumen Programs of InterTradeIreland. He develops funding proposals for firms in the start-up, bio-tech, food, regional development and energy sectors in the UK and Ireland. He has degrees in Agriculture and Animal Science from UCD and is a Certified Management Consultant. He has helped Irish and overseas companies to access funds for research and expansion from Enterprise Ireland, IDA, Intertrade Ireland, InvestNI, Innovate UK and Horizon2020 to name but a few.

In this presentation he will outline a large number of innovation and sales funding programmes available to food and alcohol producers nationally and internationally. He will give a brief practical tour of the processes involved in application, likelihood of success in each and share his ideas on how best to proceed whether you are a start-up, SME or large company. He will also give some guidance notes on what assessors are looking for in the various funding programmes.
